The best-quality bubble wrap for an eBay reseller needs to consist of two things: High-grade bubble recipe and actual length as advertised. Meaning, bubble wrap needs to be high-quality so it doesn’t break under pressure and the length needs to match the order when it arrives.
Typically, bubble wrap sellers only ship out the correct length or provide high-quality recipe/wrap. It’s rare to find a bubble wrap seller that does both.
Finding a reliable seller of bubble wrap is difficult. Sellers who list fragile items–or items in general–on eBay need to have high-quality bubble wrap so their buyers don’t charge refunds for broken products and goods. And while every seller of bubble wrap claims to be the best, we found only a few actually live up to the hype.
Why do bubble wrap sellers not sell the advertised length?
Many bubble wrap sellers advertise a certain length but ship out a much shorter amount. They do this to increase profit margins and it’s hard to judge bubble wrap length by eye when it’s rolled up. If a bubble wrap seller can advertise 700 feet of bubble wrap but only ship you 400 feet, they can keep that remaining 300 feet and include it in the sale to the next customer they’re ripping off.
Bubble wrap sellers who cut corners to make more money should be avoided at all costs.
Who manufactures most bubble wrap?
A company called Sealed Air manufactures most of the bubble wrap purchased by eBay sellers and people in general. Sealed Air has three levels of bubble wrap quality. Low-level quality is what bad bubble wrap sellers use; mid-tier quality will work for most eBay sellers; and high-quality sells for a premium but is extremely durable.
Why does the quality of bubble wrap matter?
Generally, the quality of bubble wrap matters for sellers because it’s the only thing between the item being shipped and the courier transporting the goods. High-quality bubble wrap can save sellers both money and stress.
If you’re shipping a fragile vase and use a ton of low-quality bubble wrap, chances are still high that the vase will arrive damaged. Conversely, if you ship the same vase with high-quality bubble wrap, you can use less bubble wrap, which will save you overheard costs, and sleep better at night knowing the vase will reach its destination safely.
Basically, if you’re using lackluster bubble wrap, you’re relying solely on the courier to deliver your items in one piece. Are you seriously going to tell us you trust FedEx or the U.S. Post Office to not kick your items around? Bubble wrap is an essential shipping supply for every eBay seller.
For this reason, we scoured the internet for bubble wrap comparison videos and posts. Doesn’t that sound like a blast? But we did it so eBay resellers can order bubble wrap and ensure their items arrive safely.
Here’s our extensive list of high-quality bubble wrap providers and low-quality ones to avoid.
Table of Contents
American Bubble Boy
In one way or another, you’ve likely heard of American Bubble Boy before. They are a big-time affiliate of resellers on YouTube and claim to have their own special recipe for bubble wrap. Recently, it was unveiled that American Bubble Boy does not have its own formula but instead just uses the lowest-tier Sealed Air bubble wrap.
The post deduced that sellers can get better medium-grade 0.5-inch bubble wrap for 10 cents a sheet compared to low-grade 20 cents a sheet from American Bubble Boy.
In addition, a YouTuber also measured the length of bubble wrap American Bubble Boy sent them, which was relatively accurate to the advertised amount.
So, what can we deduce from this? American Bubble Boy is shipping out lower-quality bubble wrap but is actually supplying the correct amounts. However, they are making a lot of money from YouTube and podcast affiliates and their bubble wrap is not the quality they claim.
Amazon Bubble Wrap Sellers
From what we found, most sellers on eBay will be just fine buying Amazon Basics bubble wrap.
The Amazon Basics bubble wrap is likely to give you close to the desired length of wrap you ordered and the quality is high enough for most sellers. Amazon is not providing you with the best bubble wrap, but also, it’s far from the worst. Prices are also relatively fair.
Top Amazon bubble wrap sellers
Other elite bubble wrap sellers on Amazon include Yens Elite Cushioning Roll, the wanguagua Store, and Wrapping Mailers Solution.
Please note: We have not tested any of the above brands, but they come highly recommended on Amazon and if the products are not to your liking, getting a refund from Amazon shouldn’t be difficult.
eBay Bubble Wrap Sellers
In general, it’s best to avoid bubble wrap sellers on eBay. Unless they come highly recommended, most will rip you off in some way. It could either be the incorrect length of bubble wrap or just a very low-quality recipe.
Avoid these common eBay bubble wrap sellers
Specific bubble wrap sellers on eBay that we suggest avoiding are Supply Hut (and all related aliases), Maro.store, and any other seller with a bad seller rating. In general, we suggest avoiding eBay sellers for bubble wrap altogether.
Supply Hut
From watching the YouTube video linked above in the article and other online research, we’ve concluded that Supply Hut is not a great provider of bubble wrap. They tend to often short customers of bubble wrap amounts and go by various aliases to keep customers guessing.
Our suggestion is to avoid buying bubble wrap from Supply Hut, if possible.
Fresh Farm Ghalys
Another popular bubble wrap provider we suggest sellers to avoid is Fresh Farm Ghalys. While they have good reviews online, the YouTube video we watched provided visual demonstration of the company shorting 100 feet of bubble wrap.
Obviously, the YouTube video doesn’t prove that Ghalys is shorting every buyer, but if it can happen to one customer, it’ll likely happen again.
Takeaways
If you’re a new eBay seller or you sell a ton of items on the platform, we think Amazon’s Basic bubble wrap will work just fine for all your needs. It’s good-quality, comes in the correct amounts, and is relatively fair priced.
Companies like American Bubble Boy are relying on influencers to advertise their products via affilate links, but seem to be shorting customers. In addition, some bubble wrap sellers on eBay are just taking advantage of customers and shipping out low-quality bubbles in the wrong amounts.
